One night ruined my perfectly planned life. I was supposed to have the girl of my dreams for the rest of my life. Then I ruined it all. I have lived my life as a shell of myself. Never really allowing myself true happiness. That is until the first snarky insult flew from her lips. Now all I can think is that fate has given us a second chance. Can she forgive me for the mistakes of the past or are we fated to go up in flames?
MY REVIEW
Mafia Prince is a lovely second chance romance. Cala Riley makes such an awesome author duo. The writing style of this story was easy to follow and entertaining and I enjoyed every word.
Isabella and Giovanni have known each other since they were fifteen and have been in love for a long time. Unfortunate circumstances have forced them apart but now they have the chance to be together again even if Gio is constantly surrounded by danger. Anger and resentment have been a constant in Izzy's life for the past five years. She went through a tragic experience and has a hard time trusting people, but in Gio's presence, her walls always come down. I loved how they interacted, all their banter and taunting were delightful and their chemistry was palpable.
The story is told from the perspective of both protagonists which made it more entertaining. The action was fairly paced, with enough angst and plot development to keep my interest until the end. All the characters were relatable and I just loved the dynamic Izzy and Gio had with their family. Even though they bickered a lot, their bond was strong and they always had each other backs.
While this can be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading the first two books in the Mafia Royalty series before starting this one. But overall I enjoyed it a lot and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
ARC received for an honest review.
Cala Riley, better known as Cala and Riley, are a pair of friends with a deep seated love of books and writing. Both Cala and Riley are happily married and each have children, Cala with the four-legged kind while Riley has a mixture of both two-legged and four. While they live apart, that does not affect their connection. They are the true definition of family. What started as an idea that quickly turned into a full-length book and a bond that will never end.
