OMG, Dani Rene took it to a new level. How The Mind Breaks had my head spinning and my heart hammering like crazy. It was a total mind fuck.

Tia and Braxton are two deeply emotionally scarred people. They’re both seeking revenge on the man that destroyed their lives and will do anything to make sure he will pay for his sins. But beyond their need for revenge, they also feel a strong connection to each other. Braxton becomes Tia’s anchor to reality. Her mind is fragile, the horrors she’s been through during her childhood wreaked havoc on her psyche and when things go spiraling down she needs him to pull her back to the surface. And Braxton, although he’s also dealing with his own problems, is there for her when she most needs it. The sexual tension and the chemistry between them are off the charts and their relationship starts off based on raw need but quickly develops into so much more.

The situations presented are disturbing but fascinating at the same time because they are relatable. I couldn’t put the book down until I finished it. The writing style got me enthralled, the story is told from dual POV with the timeline alternating from past to present. The action is fast-paced and the plot is intriguing with many twists and turns. I honestly didn’t know how the story would end, and I wanted so badly for the protagonists to get a chance at a HEA.

Overall this was a fantastic read, a wonderful dark romance with a psychological twist that will definitely keep you guessing. I highly recommend it!
