Heartbreak Me is the first instalment in the Heartbreak Duet and it got me hooked from the first page. I was instantly drawn to this book after reading the blurb and I'm happy I got the opportunity to read it. Emotion, drama, action, this story had it all and kept me on the edge of the seat.
This story dives into the action from the start. Theodora gets kidnapped and soon after that, she discovers her sister, Lucy, owes money to one of the most dangerous men in the city. She has no other choice than to agree to repay that debt herself, in order to save her only living relative. So she will have to obey Atlas Hyde and to whatever he asks of her until the debt is settled.
Atlas is ruthless, cunning and dangerous. A king of his own making, feared by everyone, and he doesn't take kindly when people try to steal from him. He is cold and calculated but Thea stirs something in his cold heart, he's drawn to her like a moth to a flame. He knows he's bound to break her heart at some point but can resist being near her. And Thea is strong-headed, sassy, fierce and always speaks her mind. The perfect match for the broody, scary and devastatingly handsome mogul. The chemistry is sizzling hot. I loved the push and pull between them and the fact that Thea was not a pushover. There was a constant battle of wits between them that made the story very engaging.
The story is told in dual POV, which I always enjoy. The action is fast-paced and the plot is well developed. Angst, violence, dangerous situations were all woven perfectly into the storyline. The book ends with a surprising cliffhanger and I'm very interested to see what will happen next.
