Blurb

I have loved one boy my entire life.

Finley Abbot.

Too bad he's never shown a single sign that he feels the same way. What's that saying? If you love someone set them free? Letting go is the hardest part, so when Preston comes into my life I give it a shot. It's not like Finley will ever want me.

I'm a phony. An illusion meant to fool others into believing that I'm the playboy, rich prick. No one knows the facade more than her.

Tinsley Yates.

I've been pushing her away for years to protect her from my dirty secrets. But when he shows up, treating her like she's his, like a queen, I can't hold back anymore. He will learn not to touch what's mine.

Excerpt

Taking two steps forward, I reach my hand up to cup his cheek. Then I press a soft kiss to his lips, almost crumbling in the vulnerability I see shining in his eyes.
“I can’t love you anymore, Fin. If I do, I might not survive. I would do it in a heartbeat, but I couldn’t do that to you. While I wouldn’t survive you, you wouldn’t forgive yourself for what you did to me. That’s what I can’t handle. You breaking because of me.”
One last kiss, then I turn away from him, whispering as I go, “Goodbye, Finley Abbot.”

MY REVIEW
Rating ⭐⭐

A perfect finale to a wonderful series. Unapologetically is heart-gripping, romantic and emotional. The writing style is easy to follow and expressive and I found myself reading it in one sitting.

The characters were well developed and relatable. I loved how the relationship between Tinsley and Finley developed. They've known each other since they were kids, and somewhere along the way they're feelings for each other turned to something else. But Finley always kept Tinsley at arm's length acting as her protector and nothing else. He has his reasons to keep his distance, but that doesn't mean it's easy for Tinsley to see him parade other girls in front of her. The love she feels for the boy who's always been there to protect her if need be, is unconditional but that doesn't mean she shouldn't try to find happiness with someone else. And Xavier might be the best person to help her forget about Finley.

The story was told from dual POV which for me is always more entertaining. The action was fairly paced, with enough angst, sweet moments and plot development to keep my interest until the end. Tinsley transformed into a fierce and strong-willed young woman. I loved seeing her evolution throughout the series. She might still be a 'baby' in the eyes of her brothers but she's perfectly capable of making her own decisions and assuming responsibility for her actions.  The moment Finley opened up his heart to her, Tinsley became determined to fight for their relationship no matter what her brothers might think. There were so many tender moments between these two, but also a lot of heartbreak. Finley's life wasn't easy. He was keeping a secret from his friends, a burden he was carrying on his shoulder from a young age. What he didn't realise is that his friends would be there for him no matter what, because he is part of their family.

The epilogue was everything I wanted. Everyone got their happy ending and i loved that the final scene was reserved for Reid and Sage. I'm sad that the series is over but there are some secondary characters that piqued my interest and I'm hoping maybe someday Cala Riley will make them shine in their own story.
