My first read by Natasha Knight and I'm hooked. What drew me to this story was the blurb. It sounded suspenseful and thrilling and omg...it sure was. I mean the tension was at maximum capacity. Add in some dangerous situations and a man who can be both a gentleman and a savage and I was glued to the pages.

Cristina and Damian's lives became intertwined the night of a tragic accident. They both lost people they loved and are haunted by nightmares. Cristina was just a little girl back then, innocent and oblivious to the dangerous world her father was involved in. But on her eighteenth birthday, she finds out that her life isn't her own anymore. She was allowed eight years of freedom, eight years to enjoy her childhood and surround herself with the little family she had left. But now it's time to face the monster that has been lurking in the shadows for so long. The Di Santo's are out for revenge and Damian will be the one to make sure Cristina will pay the price for her father's sins.

The writing style is easy to follow and very atmospheric with mystery beautifully woven into the story. The action is fast-paced and thrilling, the storyline literally gave me goosebumps, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading. The angst level is high and the intensity and chemistry between the protagonists are off the charts. The characters are brilliantly portrayed. Damian is calculated and dangerous, dominant and an alpha male through and through. But he also shows a softer side towards Cristina, he can't help the tenderness he feels towards her and Cristina may seem sweet and innocent but deep down she's a spitfire. She has a strong personality that comes to the surface every time Damian pushes her buttons. She might be a captive in Damian's mansion but that doesn't mean she'll make things easy for him, not when her life is on the line.

This book is dark and gritty, but also sexy and captivating. It ends with a surprising cliffhanger, and I can't wait to see what will happen next. It's definitely a page-turner and I recommend it!
