MY REVIEW
Rating⭐⭐⭐⭐
This third book in the Brutal Birthright series packs up serious heat. With major Fast Five vibes (car racing and the perfect heist) and protagonists that have explosive chemistry, Savage Lover is a page-turner and I found myself reading it in one sitting.
Nero and Camillehave have known each other since high school and couldn't be any more different. She was always the quiet looner, the school reject, covered in motor grease from working in her dad's garage. And Nero was the popular mafia prince, a gorgeous boy with a bad attitude, that turned heads wherever he went. Back then he would have never noticed someone like Camille, but a few years after graduation, constrained circumstance put Camille in Nero's path and they discover that they have more in common that anyone would have guessed.
This story brings out so many feelings. The protagonists are brilliantly presented, have depth and are relatable. Nero and Camille have an incredible connection, their chemistry is exquisite, their passion for one another overwhelming. Nero's fierce way of loving someone melted my heart, and he deserved to find the right person to love him back the same way. I loved how everything turned out in the end.
The story is told from dual POV, which I always enjoy. The mafia elements are more subtle in this story, but nonetheless, it's not lacking danger and suspense. The action is fairly paced, with enough angst and plot development to keep my interest until the end. All the characters are interesting. I loved Camille's protectiveness towards her little brother and the dynamic Nero has with his family. Even though they bicker a lot, their bond is strong and they always have each other's backs. All in all, it was a solid and heartwarming story and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!
