BLURB:

Raven has it pretty hard at home, and most of the time, she keeps to herself. Life is just easier that way. Simpler. At least, it was before a local boy gets murdered. Suddenly, things start changing. Raven is thrown into danger's path, but she finds she doesn't have to face it alone. Kaden, the charismatic and secretive new guy, is right there with her. Together, they work to figure out what's really going on, and as they uncover the truth behind the attacks, as well as their growing feelings, Raven learns there is far more to that simple life of hers than she could've ever imagined. And Kaden's secret might just be a part of it.

MY REVIEW
Rating: ★★★

An emotional and heart-gripping debut novel from author Sylver Michaela. After reading the blurb I had a feeling I would fall in love with this story and indeed I was captivated from the first pages.

Kaden and Raven were amazing characters. She's had such a harsh life growing up, living with an alcoholic father and her mother absent from her life. She learned to fend for herself from a tender age, and even though she was withdrawn and a bit of a loner, she was also a strong, kind-hearted and resilient girl. And Kaden melted my heart. He was all broody and mysterious, with his bad-boy attitude, but once the relationship between him and Raven deepened, seeing his sweet and carrying side made me love him even more. They had this crazy chemistry from the get-go and things between them evolved organically.

The story is fast-paced, told from Raven's Pov, peppered with intriguing and suspenseful moments. The writing style was easy to follow and engaging. I liked the slow burn romance between the protagonists, it had the right amount of angst and banter, and the build-up tension was sweet torture and totally worth waiting for them to be together. The plot had some twists and turns, and the paranormal aspect of the story ticked all the boxes for me. I highly recommend this book!
