When I thought this series couldn't get any better... BAM... Sophie Lark delivers Broken Vow and this book... OMG... I was completely swept into the story from the first page. I had a feeling Riona and Raylan would have amazing chemistry, but damn... it was so much more than that. They were both so intense, and the way they bonded gripped my heart fiercely.
Riona's life is in danger after a failed assassination attempt. Someone wants her dead, but she doesn't know who or why. With a skilled assassin on her heels, she needs 24-hour protection and the best person for the job is Raylan, Dante's friend from the army, whom she doesn't like one bit, or so she claims. Because the gorgeous bodyguard pushes all her buttons, and that makes her feel off balance. But Raylan is very good at his job and he will protect Riona at any cost, so she has no choice than to accept his help and hope things will settle quickly so she can return to her usual schedule and never see Raylan again.
I adore both Riona and Rylan. I love their banter, their chemistry, the push and pull between them. They are total opposites, but that's why they're a perfect match. She's strong-headed, sassy, fierce and always speaks her mind. A hard-working attorney, who wants to make a name for herself and not depend on her family. And Rylan, OMG, this man is formidable. He's ruggedly gorgeous and built like a Greek god, he can cook (swoon), he's intelligent and loyal, I instantly fell in love with him. The way he pursues Riona while keeping her out of harm's way was heart-melting. There was so much sexual tension between them you could feel it crackling on the pages, and the sexy scenes were scorching hot.
The plotline is suspenseful and angsty, there is never a dull moment. The characters are relatable and have a lot of depth. And that ending was sweet, swoony and deeply satisfying. This story has a bucket load of emotions that will tug at your heartstrings. It's fair to say I'm absolutely hooked on Sophie's writing style and I'm craving more. Can't wait for Sebastian's book!
