This book just didn't captivate me as much as The Patron. This one picks up a month after the heartbreaking events at the end of the first book and I was really excited to see if things would turn around for Callum and Kaia. Things between them ended dramatically in the first book and I was expecting Callum to do a lot of groveling to get Kaia back, which didn't happen and as much as I liked both protagonists in the first installment, I couldn't really connect with them in this one. Their relationship seemed overly exaggerated, and the way she behaved most of the time threw me off a bit. The crazy lust between them was believable. I just couldn't cope with Callum's attitude and Kaia acting like a love-struck puppy all the time. Some secrets came to light but there are still many questions left unanswered and the cliffhanger at the end left me wanting to know more. So I'll be patiently waiting for the next book in the series.
