| OMFG, this story was a doozy. I love K. Webster's writing style, but this was the first PNR book of hers that I've read and I definitely didn't know what I was getting myself into. It was intense and off the charts steamy. Charis's world turns upside down the moment she decides to tattoo her dad's medallion onto her skin. She never knew her father, all her mother told her about him was that he was gone. So she doesn't know if he's dead or just gone from their lives, that's why Charis wants to make this tattoo homage to him. But strange things start to happen afterward. Her grandmother, her only living relative suddenly dies, her best friend turns out to be someone she doesn't even recognize and superhuman creatures are out to get her. All of a sudden she finds herself thrown in a prison for paranormal beings without any right to appeal and she makes a bizarre connection with four demon-like boys that were imprisoned there for decades. To say this story was steamy wouldn't be enough. The chemistry between Charis and her demon lovers was off the charts. All four of them have unique abilities and they're possessive over her but also sweet and caring and will do anything to protect Charis. And she might look all angelic but her personality is far from it. Charis is a spitfire, she's sassy and has spunk, she's funny, kind with those who deserve it and a devil with those who dare cross her. The connection between her and the boys is strong from the beginning, and the attraction is impossible to resist. They need each other to feel complete and they're symbiosis works perfectly for them. Told in multiple POV, with an interesting plot and fast-paced action, this book enthralled me from the first pages. It was a quick read I devoured in one sitting and I very much enjoyed it. If you're a fan of reverse harem romances with a paranormal twist then I highly recommend this book.  |
